Symphony of Soil and Soul
Alice Bouvot's path to natural wine winds through classical training at the Besançon Conservatory and formal oenology studies with training in Bordeaux and Burgundy. At 30, after cutting her teeth in France's most prestigious wine regions, she felt the pull of her native Jura.
In 2005, alongside her partner at the time, she established L'Octavin in Arbois with just 2 hectares. Today, her 5-hectare domain includes some of the region's most prestigious parcels, where Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir thrive in a wild (Demeter-certified) biodynamic ecosystem.
Since 2009, every L'Octavin wine has been "pur jus" - nothing added, not even sulfites. The grapes are meticulously destemmed by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts at the cave's natural temperature. Beyond her estate production, Alice composes an impressive array of négoce wines from organic grapes sourced from trusted friends across France, each bottle capturing that characteristic L'Octavin energy - vibrant, alive, and utterly unique. Real vins vivants!
Through clean and precise vins de terroir - like the celebrated Pamina - and creative and individual vins de négoce, Alice translates her artistic sensibility into wines that sing with pure, unadulterated expression of both grape and place. L'Octavin proves that when nature conducts, magic flows from the bottle.
