FaeDesfa is Alberto Buratti, a young winemaker from the Veneto region, and we are sure you will be hearing this name more and more in the coming years. A student of art history in Padua, after a master's degree in art markets in Milan, Alberto felt his calling. Born and raised among vines and harvests, Alberto knew he must return to his roots to express his art. In 2019 he took over the agricultural estate his grandfather founded back in 1972.
We recently visited Alberto in Rovolon, tucked within Padova's stunning Euganean Hills Natural Park, and were blown away by both the landscape and his infectious passion. His 4.5-hectare slice of paradise (3 hectares of vines, the rest olive groves and woodland) sits on north-facing slopes around Monte della Madonna, where some vines have been soaking up the sun for eight decades, their roots diving deep into the region's distinctive marly limestone soils.
Since 2019, Alberto has gone full-on organic (soon Demeter certified) in the vineyard and hardcore purist in the cellar. We're talking wild fermentations, zero sulfites, and nothing but pure grape juice transformed by time and patience. His artistic spirit and rebellious soul shine through in his winemaking.
The vineyards host a fascinating mix of varieties – Glera, Corbinello, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, Pinot Nero, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot – aged between 15 and 25 years.
What fascinates us most? How FaeDesfa's natural wines somehow capture Alberto's essence in liquid form – that artistic curiosity, youthful courage, and deep love for his heritage all dancing together in the glass. This is natural wine at its most captivating: when a winemaker's spirit finds its way into the bottle through equal parts skill, love, and pure artistic vision.
For anyone hunting wines with authentic character and a healthy dose of artistic rebellion, Alberto Buratti's creations aren't just recommended – they're essential drinking.
