NATURAL WINE & CITY GUIDE BARI

Bari é bella”, they say in Southern Italy. Well, it’s true! We visit one of our favorite Italian cities regularly and will share our favorite natural wine places and some other travel insider tips in this blog post. In case you are planning a trip to wonderful Apulia, Bari should be the number one on your list & we've got you covered! The natural wine scene is great, so are the food, the vibe and the culture. Get to know this South Italian pearl and its best natural wine spots with us!

OUR TOP 4 NATURAL WINE PLACES IN BARI:

1. ORGANIC - VINI VIVI CON CUCINA
Lovely natural wine bar with kitchen, a few steps from the sea. Fantastic selection of only natural wines. Mark totally knows what he's doing and is happy to help in case you can't find your way through the huge selection. Has a few tables outside, book in advance in summer! You can book through DMs on their Insta as well.

Address: Largo Adua 21, Bari

2. MILO - ENOCUCINA CON BRACE

What did Action Bronson say about chicken and natural wine? Exactly! Milo has, hands down, the best grilled chicken south of anywhere, along with a great natural wine selection. Their whole menu is delicious. In case you don't like chicken (weirdo!), try 'fave & cicorie' or the steak and everything else from the menu. We chose an amazing bottle of Nach by Milan Nestarec.
You can check out his wife's wines in in our shop: MIRA

Adress: Via Putignani 93, Bari

3. LA STAFFA - ENOTECA DEI BISCHERI

La Staffa has become a big institution in the Italian natural wine world. Give this superb enoteca a visit, grab a bite and have a wine by the glass while sitting outside, or buy a few bottles from the shelves. Andrea will guide you through their amazing selection and will make you feel at home. Massimo (the owner) is a huge fan of the Alsatian natural wine scene (just like us!). You can find some real Alsatian gems there. From Schueller, to Ginglinger, to Patrick Meyer, they have them all, along with a broad choice of sulfite-free (0/0) wines.
The Alsatian natural wines you can't find there but in our shop are Lissner, Du Vin Aux Liens and Bourre Pif. And if you didn't yet, you should try them all!

THINGS YOU HAVE TO TRY WHILE IN BARI

Eat the famous crudo barese - the most delicious raw fish and seafood. You can eat it right at the little harbor at the entrance of Bari Vecchia (Bari Old Town), where the fishermen pull the freshest fish & seafood right from the sea into your mouth. Go around midday, get a Peroni at the "chiosco" and enjoy. Or you try one of these two:

NICOLAUS - IL BISTROT DAL MARE

Don't be fooled by the plastic chairs and tables. This place is always full, mainly with Baresi. Their spaghettone with tartare di scampi is the best thing you can eat in Bari. Yes we've said it. The other dishes on the menu are great too. Don't expect any great wines here. You came for the food!

Address: Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 37

    AL SORSO PREFERITO

Old and established restaurant with delicious food. The inventor of the 'Spaghetti all'Assasina' that you have to try! Come early or reserve a table. They have no website and an Instagram that never really made it so you might have to call.

Address: Via Vito Nicola de Nicolò 40
    Phone: +39 080 523 5747

    OTHER THINGS TO DO

MADONELLA - walk along the sea promenade up to Torre Queta - a fun place with lots of street food stands, music, drinks etc. Eat a panino con polpo!

PANZEROTTO - because fried & filled pizza dough is amongst the best things in the world. There are bakeries all around town - check Google or TripAdvisor. Or you go straight to famous Cosimo! You cannot leave Bari without giving this a try.

    Enjoy your trip!
